Online Filmmaking School at the Fashion Institute of Technology
September 29, 2009
The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) has an online filmmaking school of sorts. The non-credit certificate in online filmmaking launched on September 26, 2009, which is called, Digital Shorts: Conceive, Produce, Distribute.
With the launch of YouTube, Hulu, Blip.tv and Vimeo, short-filmmaking is more popular than ever. The filmmaking certificate will have four courses covering digital workflow, including the concept, scripting, production, editing and distribution. The classes will take place on the weekends and are available onsite only in New York City. The cost of the film program is $1220.
“Now that broadband is widespread, early adopters of video are ready to professionalize, and many others in traditional marketing careers find they are expected to make the next step to video,” said Christine Helm, director of FIT’s Enterprise Center. “Whether you want to create a show for Blip.tv, develop a hip marketing strategy for your business, or brand yourself on YouTube, this is the program for you.”
FIT is a part of the State University of New York (SUNY), with 44 majors. Visit www.fitnyc.edu to find out more.
